15 Top Tech Companies Hiring in Sydney and Melbourne

Is there anything better than knowing that you work for a company that’s leaving its mark on a particular industry—and maybe even the world?

With ‘Finding a Better Job’ reaching the shortlist of top new year’s resolutions and more than 80 percent of people failing to keep them by February, we thought we’d give you a headstart.

We’ve pulled together these 15 remarkable companies that have already made major waves and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. In fact, they’re all poised for even more explosive growth.

Not only are these companies all on the up and up, but they’re also all hiring throughout Sydney and Melbourne.

1. Canva

CanvaIt’s been an incredible start to 2018 for the Surry Hills-based design startup, become Australia’s latest tech “unicorn”, after closing a funding round valuing its operations at $US1 billion ($1.3 billion).

The startup, whose apps help individuals and companies create a variety of designs from banners and logos to presentations, plans to double its workforce of 250 staff over the next year, said co-founder Melanie Perkins; “We can grow our team as rapidly as we can and know that we’ve got the financial backing to make those decisions very easily.”  You can check out all their roles here.

2. Qualtrics


Qualtrics is a single system of record for all experience data, allowing organisations to manage the four core experiences of business—customer, product, employee and brand experiences—on one platform.

Qualtrics launched and set up as a team of three in Sydney in 2015. Today, the company has over 90 employees with more hypergrowth this year. They plan to focus on all levels of hiring with Matt Stride, Lead Recruiter of APJ, saying: “we’ll be continuing to expand the team for those looking to begin their careers in SaaS Sales, we’re always on the lookout for great salespeople looking to take on an exciting challenge in an exciting segment. We are also looking for senior and mid-level roles in marketing, sales operations, client success, and implementation.”

When discussing traits for new hires, the team focus on smarts and passion; “We look for both intellectual and emotional intelligence, combined with curiosity and willingness to learn. Our culture values are; transparency, customer obsession, a one team mentality, scrappiness, and all-in attitudes.”

3. Nuix


Nuix aims to be the leading technology for solving complex real-world data challenges including investigation, cybersecurity, insider threats, intelligence, litigation, regulation, privacy and risk management.  When the world’s biggest data leak – the Panama Papers – hit the news, Nuix software was pivotal in uncovering the facts

Within the last two years, the team has grown by nearly 20 percent to bring current employees near the 400 mark with a large focus on hiring technical candidates. The company has all but confirmed plans to pursue a public listing that may deliver the ASX a new $1 billion-plus technology company.

4. Telstra


The Australian giant, well known as a telco is well on the way to becoming a world-class technology company that empowers people to connect.

The team set to focus on some core national programs in the upcoming year, “including trialling 5G technology, developing Internet of Things network capabilities and deploying optical transport technology in our transmission network.”

“In 2018, we will specifically look to increase our capability in a range of talent segments. These include Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Infrastructure Design and Engineering, Information and Cyber Security, Data Analytics and Management, Product and Service Design and Solution Architecture.”

5. Receipt Bank

Receipt Bank

Receipt Bank launched with the goal of revolutionising small business bookkeeping. 

Having recently secured $50 million funding, the goal is to primarily build teams focussed on new business development. This will include all players in the Sales department; New Partner Consultants (a.k.a. Inside Sales), Partner Success and Account Managers.

“New Partner Consultants are really our bench,” says Vicky Skipp, VP Sales “it’s there that we start to groom our talent. I think of them as the future of our company.”

6. Bench


The integrated performance marketing and programmatic media platform, Bench has grown considerably.  Featured as a finalist in both the Deloitte Tech Fast 50 and APAC Fast 500 awards, having achieved over 500% growth.

“In 2018 we plan on growing even further by focusing on introducing our programmatic platform to more international brands and agencies. We have a massive roadmap of features that will be rolled out to our users to allow them to be more agile and respond faster to the needs of their potential customers.

“We plan on expanding all of our teams next year. We always have new roles going, particularly across our client services team. We’re also actively hiring for our product and development teams.”

7. Airtasker

Announcing global expansion doesn’t slow down Australia plans for the Sydney based marketplace.

The trusted community platform that connects people who need to outsource tasks and find local services, with people who are looking to earn money and ready to work.

The team has doubled in size over the last year and shows no plans of slowing down in 2018 currently advertising no less than eleven open roles in product, marketing and tech.

8. Hipages


Since launching from humble beginnings, the company has grown to record more than 40,000 businesses registered covering over 1,200 categories with 75,000 written recommendations from homeowners, making hipages one of Australia’s largest on-demand home services marketplace and leading sites for finding local tradespeople.

Today the company employs over 200 people. Nearly 20 open jobs are currently open from the new Sydney office.

9. InVision

InVision launched in 2011 as a tool to let designers build out website or app prototypes in minutes—without relying on engineers to write code for every little edit. In the six years since its debut, the team has grown to over 500 employees and 3 million users.

Launching into Australia just a few months ago, the design favourite has a unique distributed working model, meaning you can work from anywhere in the country.

Ryan Burke, Senior Vice President International at InVision a believes that it’s going to be worth the move saying: “It’s going to be a fun ride joining at this time, a real career-defining opportunity and we want people who see that.”

10. Rockend


As the leading provider of property software in Australia and New Zealand, the Rockend team deliver innovative technology products.

The Sydney hiring team recently said: “We have a clear purpose to make our customers interactions with the property market easier and more seamless. PropertyTree is Australia and New Zealand’s first cloud based property management solution powered by the team at Rockend. We’re developing a global digital platform to connect people with property in a different way.”

This year the team plan to expand in the following areas; Fullstack .net engineers, Front End (Angular) Devs, UX designers and SaaS Product Managers.

11. Versent


Versent helps businesses understand, transform and operate in the cloud.

This young consulting company founded in Melbourne has been grown meteoric style since launching. In the last year alone, they’ve doubled headcount to over 160 employees.

James Coxon, co-founder of Versent says “As a company, we continue to grow to meet customer demand, as well as continue to expand into full-stack development. We have some end to end, full stack product development programmes in flight – and I’m personally very excited to expand Versent’s experience and capability in this space.”

12. Bambora

Bambora Bambora is an online payment solution making it easier for businesses of all sizes to do payments. These guys work with all of the major banks and are held to strict security standards in order to maintain their PCI compliance. A global business with a large local footprint.

Over the last 12 months the team have grown from around 420 to over 470 coming into the new year. The team roles focus around product, tech and sales and they are currently hiring in both the Melbourne and Sydney Office.

13. Deputy


After raising $25million Series A early 2017, the Sydney based team had a year full of growth increasing headcount by over 60 percent, and they are ready for more in 2018.

The core areas for hiring are in the sales and tech functions.

14. Amicus Digital

Amicus Digital

Since founding the business in 2015,  the Salesforce partner agency has grown 100 percent year-on-year since foundation, more than doubled in size last year and growing to become the largest independent Salesforce Marketing Cloud specialist in Australia, hiring 25 staff.

The founding team have focused on hiring skilled (and in demand) candidates who excel in the Salesforce ecosystem. They’ve also prioritised diversity, and today 50 percent of staff are women.

15. Kalido


Kalido is another key Salesforce Marketing Cloud partner in the Asia Pacific region, a fact that Managing Director Norton is rightfully proud of.

Kalido’s efforts, as expressed by Norton, are centred on “delivering a complete offering for businesses who are looking for marketing automation and evolving the customer experience – from strategy through to platform enablement.” The team have grown from around 30 to over 70 locally this year.
