API / Microservices Engineer

Versent are looking for talented Microservices Engineers to join our growing API / Microservices and Product practices. We have multiple needs, so bring a friend (we pay great referral bonuses too!)

Our Microservices engineers work together within a project team for larger lengths of time (3 months and beyond), focused on key project deliverables following a 'common sense' Agile to maintain consistency and team velocity.

Our Microservices engineers will be generally working on or defining modern Software Development patterns and assisting out customers deliver features to their customers, we work within a loosely defined agile MVP mindset and the goal of shipping done done software.

The Microservices team is in it's early stages in Sydney, with some incredible people to learn off leading from the front. This is a great opportunity to join as an Engineer and be mentored by some of the best with a very quick growth trajectory.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in java development with experience in Java 8
  • Know Spring Boot and know why you do things, as opposed to just sitting in a corner and coding.
  • Git experience (git flow, branching, merging, rebasing, etc…) and working in a repo with other developers on a day to day basis
  • Nodejs experience a huge plus
  • Some experience (and keen interest) working with AWS
  • Strong understanding of modern development practices and patterns
  • Design knowledge of (RESTful) API Specs (Swagger, AsciiDoc, etc…)
  • Agile experience (beyond just rituals)
  • Can communicate and co-ordinate with not only dev’s in team but wider community of dev teams
  • Has a hunger to learn new things, humble enough to speak up when they don’t know/understand things
  • Mentoring (Pair Programming or other) of other developers or features
  • Has some full stack experience (Database, API Gateways, User Auth, etc…)
