Product Designer

We’re on a mission to make home improvement effortless. Our aim is to create a seamless experience for tradies and homeowners, in place of the current unreliable and unproductive process that makes it such a pain to find and connect with a tradie. Our product aims to solves the frictions of an industry ready for optimisation, by redesigning the tradie - customer relationship and transforming the way trade businesses operate.

To date, over two million Australians have changed the way they find, hire and manage trusted tradies to get a job done around their home.

Your opportunity:

As a Product Designer, you’ll research, craft and optimise designs that promote growth and contribute to the future vision of the hipages experience.

You’ll be part of a close-knit design community, whilst also being a design leader within a cross-functional team. The role covers all aspects of product design from user research through to delivery of implementable designs and some CRO activities. You don’t need to have experience across all areas of this spectrum but you must have a thirst to learn, and the want to grow and mature into an end-to-end product designer.

Our design community is inclusive, collaborative and supportive. We regularly meet and help each other through design huddles, skill sharing sessions and practice review meetings. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your designs, whilst working with the community and your cross-functional team to achieve what’s best for our customers, be they tradies or consumers. Our community is made up of experienced designers from different backgrounds who all love great design and learning new techniques, tools and practices.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborating with product managers, engineers, data scientists and other designers to deliver experiences that create value for both our customers and our business
  • Communicating your ideas through sketches, journey maps, wireframes, screen flows, high-fidelity user interface designs and rapid prototypes
  • Develop customer insights through interviews, user testing, contextual inquiries and data analysis
  • Share user insights with your team, the design community and the wider organisation through presentations, artefacts and emails to promote the Voice of the Customer
  • Work with engineers to implement experiences that are brand authentic and sympathetic to our customers’ needs

To be successful….

You’ll be a passionate mid-level product designer who’s looking to accelerate their career through immersion into a fast-paced, data-driven but fun loving product team. A confident communicator who’s at ease working with a broad range of stakeholders, as well as a drive to do great work and take ownership of deliverables. In addition to experience in:

  • User research planning and facilitation including user testing
  • Data analysis with business intelligence and analytics tools
  • User experience and interaction design for responsive websites and mobile apps (ideally using Sketch but don’t worry we can train you if you’re not proficient)
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools such as Invision or Sketch
  • Understanding of iOS, Android and web UI patterns
  • Minimum 3 years UX / product design / experience designing for web and mobile
  • Education in a related course, preferably undergraduate or greater

If you have experience in designing and executing primary research activities this would be an advantage but it’s not essential.
